Priority Registration

All students who are currently affiliated with the military (not including dependents) or are a veteran qualify for priority registration. Priority registration means being able to start registering for courses sooner than your peers. This benefit was granted to help veterans maintain a full course load, which you need in order to make the most out of your education benefits.

What do I have to do to get priority registration?

If you already are receiving educational benefits through us, the Veteran Services Office, then you will be automatically given priority registration. If you are not receiving benefits through us, you must visit our office and submit proof of your current military status.

If you are a new admit, once you submit your Statement of Intent To Register and have previously indicated on your application your military status you will be contacted in May to submit verification.  You will need to make an appointment and meet with your academic counselor before you can register for classes.  You will receive an invite in May to the Transfer Success Program in which the Veteran Services Office will host a workshop for the population, if you register for one of those dates, you will have an opportunity to schedule an appointment in advance for that day, but you must attend Transfer Success.

Official Policy

All veterans, reservists, and active duty service members are eligible for class priority registration windows during their academic careers at UCI as well as any term in which they are readmitted from active duty.  The policy applies only to students who meet entrance requirements to the University of California system.
