Update: UCI is a participant in the Yellow Ribbon Program. However, with the passing of the Isakson and Roe Veterans Health Care and Benefits Improvement Act of 2020, military-connected students who are using the Post-9/11 GI Bill® will no longer need to be awarded Yellow Ribbon as they will be charged in-state tuition.

The Yellow Ribbon Program is a provision of the Post-9/11 Veterans Educational Assistance Act of 2008. This program allows degree-granting institutions of higher learning in the United States (U.S.) to voluntarily enter into an agreement with the U.S. Department of Veterans Affairs (VA) to fund tuition expenses. Participating schools pledge to cover a percentage of the remaining expenses not met by the Bill and the VA will match that percentage dollar for dollar. The institution can contribute up to 50 percent of those expenses not met by the Post-9/11 GI Bill®.
